Art Feeds My Inquisitive Mind

Not all artists work this way, but for me each time I create, I face a multitude of questions that leads me to more and more research on the topic I am trying to render. Much of the visual research stays buried in my "cave" as did Leonardo DaVinci's and other well known artists.

But my curiosity about Cave Art leads me to the understanding that the marks made by the earliest version of humans were never intended to be closely guarded secrets and were evidence of the development of the human brain that continues today.

In this fascinating video Cave Art researcher Genevieve von Petzinger shows us how cave art was actually a communication tool for the earliest humanoid creatures and may be evidence of the beginning of written language and brain development in our ancestors.

BTW vonPetzinger has written a book which I am picking up at my local library today.
